What can you tell me about the ‘Jucy Lucy’ (sic) that I didn’t learn from Man Vs Food?

They looked pretty tasty to me…

Fighting words in these parts is the argument over who makes the best Jucy/Juicy Lucy. I didn’t see the Man Vs Food episode, but the bottom line is the cheese in these things is molton freaking hot, and can/will burn your face off. I prefer Matt’s, because at one time I had a buddy who was a bouncer-bartender there, so I would occasionally get a “comped” drink. I haven’t been out to the 5-8 Club in years since it’s on the very southern edge of Minneapolis, and I think it’s a 3.2 joint as well. But some people do bring out of town guests to Matt’s or the 5-8 Club, to give them a “only in Minneapolis” experience. Since I grew up in the northeast part of Minneapolis, I’m not quite as passionate about the debate as my southside brethren. To me it’s just two hamburgers with melted cheese in the middle. (Shhh…..do you hear that? That’s the sound of south Minneapolis tumblrs unfollowing me,)

As much as it pains me to say it, The Nook in St. Paul has the best Lucy in town and has a great atmosphere. But driving to St. Paul sucks, so Matt’s is my pick for the place to go. 5-8 Club was better before they changed the interior, and I don’t think it’s 3:2 anymore. (Are there any places that are still 3:2?)
