Home Runs for Hope

My wife’s organization, Casa de Esperanza, is hosting an event with the Minnesota Twins at Target Field this year called Home Runs for Hope. The event is on May 9th (Mother’s Day) at 1:10pm, tickets are $22 for seats in sec 316, 317, 318 and 319 (seating chart), and you can order your tickets online. This is a great way to help support a wonderful community organization and also to see a game at the new Target Field. Hope to see you at the game!

My wife’s name is Patricia if you do buy tickets and want to select a referrer. Thanks!

Yes please. Nevermind, not for $32.

Somebody will for $32. Who’s it gonna be? My money’s on this guy.
In fact, I rather like it for the history of it (moreso than plain ol’ Twins gear since I’m not a Twins fan). But not $32 worth of like.

We should start a collection and buy it for that guy. Who’s in? :)

Minnesota Twins president Dave St. Peter said he thinks the team could sell out all of its games at Target Field before the first game is played.

In other words, start practicing your finger calesthenics for tomorrow’s 9 AM on sale. (via hollygonightly)

I hope for y’all’s sake the team is good this year.

I don’t even care if they are good. We finally get to enjoy outdoor baseball. That’s good enough for me. That said, any team with Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau will be good.

State HS Hockey Tournament Brackets

It doesn’t get any better than this.

Edina (2) vs Roseau

Blaine (3) vs Apple Valley

Minnetonka (1) vs Lakeville North

Hill Murray (4) vs Duluth East

The MLB At Bat app has been around for a while, but I just decided to drop the $15 for it this morning. I love listening to baseball on the radio, but I don’t have an AM radio in the house, so having an app for my iPod Touch is going to be great. Of course it would be better if I had an iPhone, but I’m at home or work most of the time anyway, so I don’t mind using the wi-fi connection to listen. The app features live audio, mlb gameday, and video highlights.
Highly recommended if you don’t already have the app.

What a Great Weekend

Friday Night:

Electric Fetus Benefit at First Avenue

Cloud Cult opened the show, meaning that it was packed from the start. It was my first time seeing them live and it lived up to my expectations. Such a great band. Konrad singing a song with Trailer Trash was another highlight, but the crowd had emptied out quite a bit, which was too bad. They just didn’t seem to fit the crowd, which was a lot younger than a typical Trailer Trash show.

Caroline Smith and The Good Night Sleeps show in the Entry was also great. We had to leave Jeremy Messersmith’s performance early, but good thing we did, because there was a line waiting to crossover, and once we did get in, it was as packed as I’ve ever seen it. And it was so worth it, such a great show. She really owned the room and put on an amazing performance.

Saturday Night:

Had wine/dinner at Solera with friends, followed by cocktails and dessert at Bradstreet Crafthouse, and then beers and Big Buck Hunter at Mackenzie’s. I think I’m still hungover.

Sunday Afternoon:

USA vs Canada for the Gold! It wasn’t quite the Miracle game, but close. The USA fans came into the Olympics with very low expectations, but the team shocked everyone with a wonderful win against Canada in group play. The gold medal game lived up to the hype, with one of the better hockey games I’ve ever seen played. And when Zach Parise scored to tie the game with 25 seconds, I really felt this was a team of destiny and they would win in OT. But I respect Sidney Crosby, so I was happy when he scored the winner, even though I really dislike Canadian hockey and their arrogant fans (esp the way they look down on college hockey).

Prince Havin’ A Blast at the Vikings Game! [PIC]

“Why don’t you go purify yourself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka.”

this is kinda creepy…

watching over you. win.

prince is why the vikings were undefeated at home.  he’s a lucky charm.  it would probably be helpful if he watched the games in a purple bodysuit (similar to the one worn on the cover of rave un2 the joy fantastic).  he really needs to go to new orleans next weekend.

This made so happy. Gotta love the wine and coffee on the table. Such a typical football fan :)

Here is a new screengrab from the upcoming game, MLB ‘10: The Show. (via TwinsTerritory)
These screengrabs are very spooky. Seeing a Twins game played outside, months before it will happen, is still hard for me to believe, even though we are all so very excited for it.
